Settings
Masters, your company's details, approval rules and automation.
- What is in the finance settings?Settings on the finance pages has tabs for categories, cost heads, vendors, GST rates, TDS rates, approval rules, bank accounts, credit cards, bank file templates and the cash opening balance.
- What are cost heads, and do I need them?Yes: every expense is booked to one. A cost head is what the money was spent on, such as raw materials, rent or software, under a category.
- How do I add a vendor? In Settings → Vendors, add the vendor's name, type, GST number, PAN, state and address, payment terms and their usual cost head and TDS section.
- How do I set who approves what?In Settings → Approval rules. Each rule is a tier: who approves (such as a business unit head or the founder) and the amounts it covers, for every category or one.
- Where are our company's details? In Settings → Companies on the finance pages: the legal name, PAN, TAN, CIN, PF establishment code, ESIC employer code, registered state and address, email and website, the Tally company name, the bank account salaries are paid from, and your GST numbers (add one for each state you're registered in).
- What are auto-tasks?Reminders Margin turns into tasks for your finance team, a set number of days ahead: payments and statutory payments due, recurring bills to review, vendor documents expiring, the bank statement to upload, GSTR-2B to match and TDS returns to file.
