Can our careers page be on our own address?
Yes. Besides masthead.1936ai.com/careers/ and your company's short name, it can be on your own address, like careers.yourcompany.com. It looks and works the same, Google lists your roles under your own address, and candidates see your name in the address bar. Your Masthead address keeps working, so links you've shared never break. It comes with your careers page in Hire, at no extra cost.
It uses a sub-domain: a name in front of your domain, like "careers" in careers.yourcompany.com. Adding one doesn't change your website or your email. You need to be an owner or admin in Masthead, and able to change your domain's DNS records (DNS is the internet's address book, managed where you bought your domain or by whoever looks after your website).
- Open Settings → Hiring → Candidate pages and scroll to Your own careers address.
- Type the address you want, such as careers.yourcompany.com, and click Use this address. It has to be a new sub-domain, not your main website.
- Masthead shows two or three records, each with a Copy button: a TXT record that shows the domain is yours, a CNAME record that points the address to Masthead, and sometimes a second TXT record for the secure certificate (the padlock). Add each where your domain is managed; here is how for the usual places.
- Back in Masthead, click Check. Each record shows Found or Not found yet. When all are found, the address shows Live.
New records usually work within 5 to 30 minutes, sometimes a few hours. The certificate then takes a few minutes, sometimes up to an hour. You needn't keep clicking Check: Masthead checks every hour for three days and switches the address on by itself.
Once it's live, Hiring → Roles, Copy link and Share on LinkedIn use your own address. Add a "Careers" link on your website pointing to it, so Google finds your roles. Keep the records in place: Masthead checks them daily, and if they disappear your links go back to the Masthead address until they're back.
