How do I add a chat channel?
- In the chat app, make an incoming webhook for the channel and copy its address:
- Slack: add the Incoming Webhooks app to the channel and copy its webhook URL. It starts with https://hooks.slack.com/services/.
- Microsoft Teams: open the channel's Workflows, choose "Post to a channel when a webhook request is received", and copy the address it gives you.
- Google Chat: open the space's Apps and integrations, add a webhook, and copy its address. It starts with https://chat.googleapis.com/.
- In Masthead, open Settings → Company → Chat alerts (admins, leadership and HR).
- Under Add a channel, choose Where (Slack, Microsoft Teams or Google Chat), give it a Name, such as #people-team, and paste the Webhook address.
- Tick the alerts it should get, and click Add channel.
- On the channel's card, click Send a test message and look for it in the channel.
Keep the address private: anyone with it can post to the channel. Masthead keeps it encrypted and shows only its end.
