Margin works out GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B each month, and the 26Q and 24Q TDS returns each quarter, from the invoices, bills and payroll in your books. You or your CA file them on the portal; Margin never files anything itself.
Your GSTR-2B from the GST portal, matched with the bills in your books. Margin works out the figures; your CA files the returns on the GST portal.

Tax on sales comes from your 6 invoices for September (₹19,40,000 before GST). IGST credit is set off first, then CGST and SGST. Margin never files a return itself: your CA files GSTR-3B on the GST portal, and you record the filed figures here so Margin can show whether the books agree.
GSTR-1 for September 6 invoices, ₹19,40,000 taxable, ₹3,49,200 tax. Filed 10 Oct 2026; the filed figures agree with the books.Filed
Try this: open a mismatch to see why the credit is held back.

Returns worked out from your books
GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B come from the sales invoices and credit notes you issue in Margin, your bills and GSTR-2B. Your CA files on the GST portal, you record the filed figures, and Margin shows whether the books agree.
GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B for each month
CGST and SGST or IGST on every invoice
Filed figures checked against the books
Every deadline on the statutory calendar
GSTR-2B mismatches caught early
Upload the GSTR-2B file from the GST portal and Margin matches it with your bills. You see which vendors haven't filed and which bills you can't claim credit on yet. If last month's isn't in by the 16th, Margin reminds your finance team and admins.

TDS challans, returns and Form 16
Each bill carries its TDS section and rate, such as 194C or 194J, so TDS comes off what you pay. Record each challan with its CIN and allocate the deductions it paid; Margin shows which aren't on a challan yet. Each quarter, generate 26Q or 24Q for your CA to check and file.
A default TDS section for each vendor
Deductions not yet on a challan
26Q for vendors, 24Q for salaries
Form 16 from locked payroll runs
Good questions.
No. Margin works out GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, 26Q and 24Q from your books. Your CA files them on the portal, you record the filed figures, and Margin shows whether the books agree.
Finance home shows the next one, and the statutory calendar holds them all: TDS deposit on the 7th, GSTR-1 on the 11th, PF and ESI on the 15th, GSTR-3B on the 20th, professional tax on the 28th, and advance tax each quarter.
For invoices and returns, yes. Invoice series, GST returns and GSTR-2B uploads use your company's GST numbers, one for each state you're registered in, added under Settings → Companies. Bills and expenses can be saved without one, but then claim no input tax.
Form 16, for salaries, with the Payroll or Books + Payroll plan: each person's certificate for the year, made from approved, locked payroll runs, for everyone with a PAN. Margin doesn't make Form 16A for vendors; it prepares the 26Q return file for your CA.
